I’ve heard the stock market is an indicator of future economics. We’ve seen a little improvement in the market recently, indicating economic recovery, but when? Also, why does the stock market say it likes Hillary Clinton as VP?
Basically, I’m interested what messages the stock market sends in general.

What is the stock market and how do people become rich off of it?

I’ve heard a lot about the stock market recently but I don’t know much about it. What is it? Also, I’ve heard that people have gotten rich off of it, how did they get rich?

How often does a correction in the stock market turn into a full-blown recession?
Filed Under Stock Market | 1 Comment
I’m interested in “leveraged indexes” (ex., SSO) that imitate the general movement of the stock market with increased power. However, if the market plummets, I’m twice as in trouble as I’d normally be.
I know that predicting the market is a difficult if not impossible task, but are there any early “warning signs” to warn me of an upcoming recession?
Historically, how many times have corrections (10% drop in the market) turned into a true, full-blown recession (20% drop or more in the market)?
Thanks for your help!

See links below for evidence demonstrating that the stock market performs better during Democratic administrations than Republican administrations.

dpj5: Let’s see if what you’re saying is true:
As I look over the data, I see that the two of the three periods with the biggest gains (33-36, 97-01, and 49-52) involved Democratic Congressional majorities as well.
The data do not support your claim. Please try again.
John–Excellent points, but they also illustrate that the stereotype that Democrats favor regulation is not always true.
